UK ENIC speaks at UUKi Transnational Education Conference
UK ENIC was invited to speak at the UUKi Transnational Education Conference 2026, last month.
Held at the University of London’s Senate House, the two-day event - on 29 and 30 September -brought together higher education professionals, policymakers and global partners to explore the next phase of transnational education.
Chris Lyons, UK ENIC’s Head of Policy and Engagement, was part of a panel session called ‘Collective action: delivering against the International Education Strategy’.
It examined the key contributions of sector bodies towards the IES ambitions of positioning the UK as the global partner of choice and expanding education exports to £40 billion annually by 2030.
The panel, chaired by UUKi’s Griff Ryan, also included Shannon Stowers - Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA); Eduardo Ramos - British Council; and Elizabeth Newall - Jisc.
Chris said: “It was a privilege to be invited along to speak at the conference and to join esteemed sector colleagues in conversations about the IES.
“We discussed the benefits of a joined-up UK sector approach to TNE, collaborating and partnership, where the UK ENIC voice was an active part of TNE planning, preparation and consideration.
“I spoke specifically about why recognition of the qualification is like the keystone to a bridge - essential to the integrity and security of the structure, giving confidence in all who cross it.”
UK ENIC supports the success of TNE by providing expertise on international qualification recognition and advising stakeholders on recognition practice. This may facilitate system-level alignment, enable strategic partnerships and provide relevant insights for all stakeholders.
We also contribute to international recognition policy and cooperation, and - alongside key partners and stakeholders - help build trust, transparency and confidence in qualifications across borders.
