UK ENIC presents at Deep Dialogues in Cairo

30 January 2026

UK ENIC was invited to present at the fifth Deep Dialogues event in Egypt recently, organised by the British Council.

It took place in Cairo between 20 and 22 January, with the theme focusing on ‘the role of transnational education in advancing higher education strategies in the Middle East and North Africa’ (MENA).

The event explored the diverse transnational education models within MENA and reflected on how successfully these models are responding to the priorities of national governments, institutions and students.

Jodie Duffy, UK ENIC’s Head of Research, Data and Insights, delivered a session on the role of recognition in supporting successful TNE, covering the challenges TNE poses for recognition and the recognition barriers encountered by certain models.

She said: “During the Deep Dialogue, there were many rich and insightful discussions about different aspects of TNE, drawing on perspectives and experiences from across the MENA region and beyond.

“It was a great opportunity to share how recognition can contribute to the success of TNE, particularly when considered at an early stage, and to explore what successful TNE looks like in different national contexts.”
