Highlights from ENIC NORTH 2026
Delegates from across the international education sector attended ENIC NORTH 2026 in Scotland earlier this month.
Held on 28 April at the Sir Jim McDonald Technology and Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, our one-day conference explored the theme: ‘Navigating change: shared challenges, collective solutions’.
The event featured a packed programme including a plenary session, panels, presentations, interactive labs and networking opportunities, featuring a high calibre of experts who discussed a broad range of topics.
Highlights included our plenary panel and Q&A session called ‘Change, Challenges, Solutions – the Oxford debate’.
We welcomed Professor Graeme Atherton (University of West London), Dr David Donaldson (Universities Scotland) and Michelle Stewart (Duolingo English Test), who explored our theme and set the tone for the conference.
Later, the UK’s refreshed International Education Strategy was front and centre as our expert panel - including The PIE’s Jacqui Jenkins, AfaraEd’s Stuart Rennie and UK ENIC’s Jodie Duffy – considered what the strategy means for institutions and inbound learners.
Breakout sessions included a live survey on responsible internationalisation, pain points in admissions assessment security, an essential guide to developing successful international recruitment and the student voice.
Fraud, exploring Indian qualifications and equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in assessment were also on the programme, along with a fireside chat on the realities shaping international education today.
Chris Lyons, Head of Policy and Engagement for UK ENIC and programme lead, said: “We were delighted to welcome delegates to ENIC NORTH 2026 to discuss the change, challenges and solutions across international education.
“By listening to members, and with support from our Conference Advisory Group, we were able to produce another ambitious programme that included a variety of topics and themes.
“We are thankful to everyone involved in the conference – from our speakers, exhibitors and facilitators to our sponsors and team behind the scenes who help produce this informative and engaging day. And, of course, our delegates who support us year-on-year.
“We are already looking forward to UKENIC26 in London later this year and we hope to see you there.”
ENIC NORTH 2026 was in partnership with Skills for English. It was presented in association with IELTS and supported by AfaraEd, Gecko and Oxford International Digital Institute.
