UK ENIC at British Council Going Global 2025 conference

28 November 2025

UK ENIC’s Research, Data and Insights team were invited along to take part in the British Council’s Going Global 2025 conference in London, last month.

Going Global is an event for leaders in international education to debate the future of further and higher education.

It provides a strategic forum for sector colleagues to connect, share knowledge and to build a global network of senior leaders and policy influencers.

Research Manager Axel Dessein led a roundtable discussion, together with Dr Jacqueline Priego from the University of Portsmouth, on the topic of microcredentials and other flexible learning pathways.

Axel said: “It was a pleasure to lead the roundtable session at Going Global 2025, where there were some fantastic conversations around emerging practices and persistent barriers to microcredentials and other learning pathways.

“We also discussed a number of ideas around the opportunities for collaboration to strengthen impact through recognition and aligning national policy.”

Afterwards, UK ENIC joined a closed session on academic partnerships between the UK and Latin American institutions, where insights were shared by speakers from Brazil, Mexico and Peru.

The conference also presented a good opportunity to meet some of our members including the Higher Education Commission – Mauritius, and the Higher Education Council – Rwanda.

Jodie Duffy, UK ENIC’s Head of Research, Data and Insights, attended a Spotlight on Southeast Asia session, which was followed by a networking reception with delegates from across the region.
