ENIC members wanted for online focus group

30 October 2025

The education landscape doesn’t stand still for long. New qualifications are frequently introduced - or mooted - while others are renamed, restructured or phased out.

As such, it’s important that we periodically review the ‘UK comparison’ statements that international awards are compared to. These are the UK qualifications that are referenced on our statements and databases, as well as the ENIC Band Framework.

We also want to ensure our UK comparisons are relevant and meaningful to all stakeholders. When we compare an international award to a particular UK qualification, it should be clear what that means for your institution.

What we’re doing
It’s in this context that we’ve recently been reviewing our ‘UK comparison’ statements, with a particular focus on those that refer to ‘BTEC’, ‘NVQ’ and ‘Bachelor’.

As a result of the review, we’re proposing some revisions to our ‘UK comparison’ statements to ensure their currency and utility. Proposed changes include removing reference to ‘Bachelor (Ordinary)’ and tweaks to the wording of our BTEC statements at RQF level 2 and 3.

However, a final decision on whether to adopt, adapt or disregard the proposed changes will be very much subject to stakeholder feedback. And this is where you come in.

How you can get involved
We want to give all members the opportunity to help shape the future ‘UK comparison’ statements by taking part in an online focus group.

No particular expertise is required. You just need some experience of our comparison statements and a willingness to share your opinions.

If you think you might like to get involved, please register your interest by Friday 14 November 2025. We’ll then be in touch shortly with further details, including a date and time for the focus group.

We look forward to speaking with you soon.
